Everyone has rights with regard to how their personal information is handled.  We take data privacy very seriously and want to ensure you have the best experience possible.  We may collect, store and process personal information about our clients, customers and suppliers and we will treat it in an appropriate and lawful manner.

Information Collection

When you register with us, the website collects and stores personal information that is voluntarily provided by you.  However, we may also obtain information from other sources such as third parties, eg Property Pal, Property News or publicly available sources such as HM Land Registry.  This information may consist of, but is not limited to, name, address, E mail address, telephone numbers, copies of your ID, eg passport, driving licence, Utility Bill, etc, proof of funds and any financial information that you choose to disclose.  If you don’t provide us with this information, we may not be able to provide you with access to our products or services.  During the course of our relationship with you we may ask for additional information which is required for us to fulfil the specified service.  This information is broadly termed as “personal data” or “personal information”.  You are able to remove your consent at any time.  You can do this by contacting the office of Gogogone.

Storing your Information

Your information is securely stored at Gogogone office at 7 Pilot’s View, Heron Road, Belfast BT3 9LE & our hosting partners servers in London.  We are committed to protecting your personal information and implementing appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect it against any unauthorised or unlawful processing and against any accidental loss, destruction or damage.  The data is stored electronically, on a computer, or in certain paper based filing systems.

How we use your Data

We use your data to manage your account and allow you to make searches of properties.  If you are a potential buyer we will use your data to check your financial position (ie do you  have a mortgage agreed in principle or are you a cash buyer) with regard to confirming your ability to proceed with a purchase.  We do this in our legitimate interest of providing a quality service to our customers.

We may also share your information with third parties if we have the legal requirement to do so.  These may include the police, local authorities and other law enforcement and regulatory agencies where we are satisfied that the relevant agency has demonstrated a proper legal basis for requesting the personal information.

How long will we keep your personal information?

We retain your personal data only for as long as we need to comply with our obligations under The Property Ombudsman Code of Practice and rules set by HMRC.  The retention periods are:

  • Seven years for data related to a financial transaction with Gogogone (such as an instruction to market a property).
  • Six years for data related to a property transaction (such as a valuation, offer or viewing).
  • Five years for data related to our obligations under Anti-Money Laundering regulations.
  • 18 months for other personal data not covered by one of the above.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

Right to be informed – you have the right to be told how Gogogone use your personal information.

Right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

Right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate.  You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

Right to erasure – You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.

Right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Right to data portability – You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

Right to object – Where you have given consent to any processing (including marketing) You have the right to withdraw that consent at any time.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
